are u sayin this diet cures these problems. I say for sure it won’t cure MS. My dad has had it for over 30 years and he is from cyprus and eats generally all natural foods. Although i do agree with u in general, a healthy, well balanced diet should greatly reduce many pf the modern day health problems.

    And, to continue, …
And, to continue, considering green biofuels I think your statement is correct as far as “dirty” ethanol from corn is concerned. That production is just a security policy measure in the States, recommended by DHS considering the risk for “peak oil”, and have nothing to do with climate concerns. But there are better options, for instance producing methanol from wood through a combustion process, much more energy effective.

  9. ZeketheSwede Says:

    That statement is …
That statement is not quite correct. It takes on average 8 pounds of cereals to produce 2 pounds of pork meat. Or, in the States, 14 pounds of cereals to produce 2 pounds of beaf. So meat consumtion is by far more detrimental to the environment than eating just vegetables. And raising cattle is in itself responsible for 18 % of the total amount of released green house gases world-wide.

    Raising livestock …
Raising livestock may indeed be bad for the climate and environment, but so is growing crops. Fertilizer run-off into lakes and streams causes huge problems, so vegetarians are just as guilty as carnivores. The same could be said for so-called “green” biofuels. The only way humans can reduce our impact on the environment is by becoming solar-powered andriods and that’s, oh, decades away at least.

    Indeed there is no …
Indeed there is no funding for studies of the diet. Why? Because there isn’t a billion dollar lobby behind apples, almonds and bacon. Paleo isn’t something you can shrinkwrap and sell via informercials. No one’s going to get rich off of it and, frankly, who cares? I know it works and I’ve given up trying to convince others who scoff. Let them keep wondering why their inflamation, acne and obesity won’t go away.

    I think that the …
I think that the pre-paleolithic diet is superior to the paleo diet which presumes that a band of wild humans had sufficient resources to mount hunts on a regular basis. Even in more recent history, hunting in the Americas produces only about 20% of the dietary needs of indigenous peoples, IF they are lucky. The pre-paleo diet of foraging readily available vegetation is less resource intensive than mounting hunts which often fail and result in loss of life.

I have met many drs and am personal friends with alot too. One of the best MD’s i know, is 82 years old in excellent health, still practising 6 and sometimes 7 days a week and he ADMITS that he had no idea about REAL nutrition until he was about 60! He shares the foundational opinions of Lorax on nutrition, it is solid and there is alot of proof of it now. See Dr Mercola for example, who also shares the same view points.

    Good point, there …
Good point, there are certainly occasional glitches in native diets. I think this is often related to the introduction of non traditional staple foods - like your example of S. American cassava being introduced to Africa where there was no traditional knowledge of its use or potential toxic effect. Certainly there are also deficiencies in harsh areas like the Himalayas where there is simply no good source of some nutrients like iodine. Just saying this principle is accelerated in our moden diet.

  20. blackberryjuice1 Says:

    well, some native …
well, some native societies aren’t all that healthy. consider the incidences of endemic goiter in places like the Himalayas and Dem. Republic of Congo before the introduction of iodinized salt or the removal of cassava or other goitrogenic foods as staple foods… I’m a little cautious about claiming that all native peoples are extremely healthy, because this just isn’t the case…

  24. ZeketheSwede Says:

    The paleo diet …
The paleo diet accepts large amounts of meat, which is bad for the climate change and also quite unethical, considering the treatment of most domestic animals today. Concentrate on raw fish, like the Japanese. Avoid imported fruit and vegetables without shell, because they often contain high amounts of pesticides.
